Polycarbonate Lens
Back

Polycarbonate lenses are made from a similar material to that of bulletproof glass, these lenses are 10 times more impact resistant than standard plastic lenses however this material is relatively soft, subsequently polycarbonate lenses need a scratch-resistant coating to prevent surface scratches.

We also include a scratch resistant coating and UV400 treatment FREE OF CHARGE.

Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic material which is produced from small pellets, these pellets are heated to melting point, from here this liquid polycarbonate is then injected into lens molds by a process known as injection molding. Most other plastic lenses are made from a cast molding process, where a liquid plastic material is baked for long periods in lens forms, solidifying the liquid plastic to create a lens.
